UFC featherweight contender Bryce Mitchell delivered a memorable response during a UFC 314 press conference when confronted with his opponent’s prediction about his future.
When a reporter mentioned, “Your opponent said you might have to retire this weekend due to brain damage,” Mitchell didn’t miss a beat.
“I was born with brain damage, brother. I’ll be all right,” Mitchell replied with his characteristic Arkansas drawl, drawing laughs from those in attendance.
The quick-witted comeback showcased Mitchell’s unique personality and unflappable demeanor ahead of his upcoming bout. Known for his grappling prowess and straightforward communication style, Mitchell has become a fan favorite in the UFC’s competitive 145-pound division.
Mitchell’s opponent’s comments were likely intended to get under his skin, but the tactical specialist demonstrated his mental fortitude by brushing off the remarks with humor.
The exchange quickly gained traction on social media, with fans appreciating Mitchell’s ability to deflect psychological warfare with self-deprecating humor.
Mitchell, who holds an impressive professional record, continues his preparation for the weekend’s matchup, seemingly unfazed by verbal exchanges.
But it might not be all that cracked up – Mitchell previously delivered a deadpan serious denial when fans suspected he was cognitively impaired.
Mitchell expressed frustration about the backlash to his historical opinions, claiming he’s been unfairly targeted.
“I’ve never hurt nobody, I’ve never hated nobody, I’ve never produced any hate speech you will not find it,”
Mitchell insisted.
“And anybody that wants to debate me they can come get schooled and bring a notepad and a pencil because you’re gonna have to write down the shift that I say because there’s so much of it you won’t be able to take it all in at once.”
He went on to deny claims that he was mentally slow as a result of bad genes calling out the media:
“If any of them is not a coward then invite me on their show I debate these sons of b**** and I will make them look like fools because their knowledge is inferior,”
Mitchell challenged.
“I base my confidence off of my knowledge my knowledge comes from my research.”
“People can come out and call me an inbred r*tard,”
Mitchell stated matter-of-factly.
“And both of those are completely untrue statements.”
