Brendan Schaub: Pereira won’t beat “a single guy in the top 5”

Brendan Schaub is somewhat of an artist when it comes to bad takes – which he then leans into and pretends they were gags.

This time, Schaub has taken to courting Israel Adesanya possibly in hopes of booking him for any of his ailing shows.

Adesanya lost his title after a 4 year reign to a former kickboxing opponent who has spent just over a year in UFC. While Pereira is certainly vulnerable to world class wreslting, he’s also an elite striker.

UFC just ranked Pereira as number 8 on the Pound for Pound rankings.

As of right now, Middleweight rankings look like this:

Enter MMA analyst and prolific podcaster Brendan Schaub. Schaub claimed the following on the latest edition of the Schaub show:

“I’m not taking anything away from Alex, but I don’t think he beats a single guy in the top five. After seeing Izzy and Pereira’s grappling and the wrestling, I’m sure every guy in the top five are like, ‘Dear God! Please give me that guy.'”

“For those guys that can actually wrestle and have not just one takedown but an arsenal, and have chain wrestling and jiu-jitsu higher than a blue belt, they’re foaming at the d**k to get their hands on Pereira.”

This isn’t exactly reinventing the wheel. Welterweight super star Khamzat Chimaev already called out Pereira in an attempt to jump the queue.

But this is perhaps overlooking former champion Robery Whittaker who has proven himself with a systematic dismantling of Marvin Vettori. Some fans even go so far as to predict the future of the division is a rock paper scissors match between the three.
