Brendan Schaub: I would beat the sh*t out of [Joe Rogan in MMA]

Former MMA contender and comedian Brendan Schaub has recently shared his thoughts on UFC commentator Joe Rogan. He labelled Rogan a “monster” in terms of physical prowess, despite asserting that he would still “beat the sh*t” out of Rogan in a bout.

Brendan Schaub is a former UFC heavyweight contender who gained prominence as the runner-up on the tenth season of TUF. Schaub enjoyed a promising start in the UFC, achieving a 4-1 record early in his career. However, he struggled in his later matches. Schaub ended up losing four of his next six matches, and exited the sport in 2014.

Since retiring from MMA, Schaub has frequently appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience. Their numerous interactions on the show have fostered a strong friendship between the two. A notable figure in the UFC, Rogan is well-known for his insightful cage-side commentary that has accompanied some of the sport’s most memorable moments.

Schaub acknowledges that Rogan’s skills extend far beyond commentary. He highlighted Rogan’s formidable lower-body strength and extensive training in jiu-jitsu.

Schaub stated on his podcast: “Can Joe kick? Absolutely. For a guy who’s never competed professionally, he can kick like a motherf*cker. If you put him against any celebrity out there, he’s going to beat the sh*t out of them. [He’s a] blackbelt in jiu-jitsu. In that civilian aspect, [he’s a] monster.”

Despite his admiration for Rogan’s abilities, Schaub clarified why the 56-year-old commentator wouldn’t match up against a professional UFC fighter.

He continued: “You gotta realize, though. I was ranked in the top ten in the world. So, it’s just different. I would beat the sh*t out of [Rogan].”

The physical differences between Schaub and Rogan further underscore Schaub’s point. At six-foot-four and 245 pounds, Schaub towers over Rogan who stands at five-foot-six and weighs around 200 pounds. This considerable size advantage would be vital in a hypothetical matchup within the octagon.
