BREAKING: B.J. Penn arrested again for violating temporary restraining order after being charged with family abuse

Former UFC champion B.J. Penn has been arrested once again, this time for allegedly violating a temporary restraining order. The 46-year-old mixed martial arts legend was taken into custody by Hawai’i Island police on Thursday, marking the latest incident in an ongoing legal situation involving his family as per kitv.

According to police reports, officers responded to a residence on Pu’u’eo Street in Hilo at approximately 11:15 a.m. following a report that Penn had entered a property in violation of an active restraining order. Authorities located Penn in the area and arrested him without incident. He was processed at the Hilo Police Station and subsequently released after posting $3,000 bail.

While the police statement did not specify who had filed the restraining order, court documents reveal that Penn’s 79-year-old mother, Lorraine Shin, had previously obtained a temporary restraining order against her son in Third Circuit Family Court in May. Shin has described experiencing what she terms “extreme psychological abuse” from Penn.

The court documents paint a troubling picture of the relationship between Penn and his mother. According to Shin’s statements, Penn has accused her of “killing his family and taking over his mother’s identity,” noting that “he wants me to be removed from his home.”

This arrest follows previous legal troubles for the former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion. In late May, Penn was arrested and charged twice for allegedly abusing his mother. One incident reportedly involved Penn shoving his mother into a car and taking her mail.

In court filings, Shin has expressed concern that her son may be suffering from Capgras delusional syndrome, a condition where a person believes that a close acquaintance has been replaced by an identical imposter.

The restraining order against Penn has reportedly been extended until November 23, requiring him to vacate the Hilo home he shares with his mother. Sources indicate that Penn has refused to sign the restraining order document, necessitating an additional court appearance.

Prosecutors are reportedly seeking a court-ordered mental health examination for Penn as the legal proceedings continue. Penn is scheduled to make his initial appearance in family court on Friday at 11:30 a.m.

Police have requested that anyone with information regarding Thursday’s incident contact Officer Blake Ragocos of South Hilo Patrol.
