Boxer left covered in blood after horror cut ended up ruining his unbeaten record

Boxer Guido Vianello lost his undefeated streak on Saturday night after receiving a terrible cut. The Italian was drenched in blood after losing to Jonnie Rice in the heavyweight match.

In the sixth round, the 35-year-old veteran delivered a crushing right hand. This caused Vianello to suffer from a cut above his left eye. Vianello’s face was covered in blood after the brutal punch. It also caused a deep laceration that was deemed severe enough to stop the match.

The referee first believed that the horrific cut was the result of an accidental head clash. However, ringside officials reviewed the video and concluded that Rice had indeed struck him hard and caused the cut.

The bout was subsequently declared over 42 seconds into the seventh round. Vianello was ruled unfit to continue by the ringside doctor. The referee gave American boxer Rice the TKO victory.

Prior to Saturday’s match in New York, he had won 10 of his previous outings and a draw. This was his first loss in that span.

Vianello maintained his positive attitude despite suffering a terrible injury and losing. After the bout, he was interviewed by Top Rank and said: “Mama, I’m ok. Don’t worry.”

The triumphant Rice said, ” I’m not here to call anyone out right now. I’m going to enjoy this victory and then see what’s next.”
