Former heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr has found himself at the center of controversy after a tweet from his Twitter account raised eyebrows. After a message was posted regarding using weed and paying for escort, Ruiz Jr claimed that his Twitter account had been hacked.
The now-deleted tweet included photographs of Ruiz receiving medical treatment through a drip alongside a controversial message. However, Ruiz quickly addressed the situation and claimed that his Twitter account had been hacked.
In addition to the incident involving his hacked Twitter account, Ruiz has encountered personal upheaval in recent weeks. Reports recently emerged about his separation from his ex-wife Julie Lemus.
The split was due to his new relationship with social media star Mayeli Alonso. The revelation of Ruiz’s new romantic involvement allegedly led to his ex-wife kicking him out.
Ruiz subsequently confirmed he suspects his ex of hacking him in a scathing rant.
“My Twitter got hacked by this b*t*h that I know. And she’s just mad. She’s mad because I’m happy. She’s mad because I’m with my girl. But I didn’t post anything,” said Ruiz Jr. in a video.
“That is an evil person to be f***ing sending you and putting stuff out there. She’s trying to ruin my career or what? Never do that,” he added. While he accused her of trying to ruin his career, he simultaneously assured everyone that “God has bigger plans” for him. “I just don’t like people trying to make me look bad or trying to tell people to hate me,” Ruiz Jr. explained.
Despite his last match dating back to September 2022 when he defeated Luis Ortiz, Ruiz is eager to make a triumphant return to the ring. The former world champion sent Tyson Fury a warning last month that he was coming for his WBC title.
Ruiz even re-shared a mock-up poster featuring the two to imply that a bout had been agreed upon. The poster read: “Tyson Fury vs Andy Ruiz Jr is official! July 22nd.”
However, Fury’s promoter Frank Warren denied any confirmation of the bout between Ruiz Jr and Tyson Fury. Recently, Ruiz also expressed his interest in facing Deontay Wilder.
