Bermudez face was a complete mess prior to 8th round KO by Kyoguchi

26 year old Mexican boxer Esteban Bermudez lived through one of most taxing defeats of his career. Bermudez was badly banged up and his face was gushing and messy thanks to going 8th rounds against Kyoguchi.

Kyoguchi and Bermudez faced each other in a WBA junior flyweight boxing title unification bout.

Kyoguchi was on point early on and drew blood from his Mexican opponent. Kyoguchi kept landing combinations and Bermudez was at a loss for how to counter.

In round two Kyoguchi did a lot of damage via uppercut.

Kyoguchi had two separate point deductions in the match but still managed to get out on top.

Bloodied Bermudez had had enough 28 seconds into round 8 at the Domo Alcalde in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Kyoguchi remains unbeaten with the victory over Bermudez. As for Bermudez – he’ll need medical attention to tend to the big cut that Kyoguchi’s punishing left hooks opened above his eye.

Bermudez even had to visit the ringside physician in third round when a cut got opened up on his forehead.

Safe to say his face will be messy looking for a while. Official was adamant the twosome avoid headbutts considering the damage to Bermudez’ face. One of the point deductions to Kyoguchi is particularly questionable considering it was Bermudez that initiated the head clash.

Kyoguchi is now 16-0, 11 via knock out and this was his fourth title defense.

He has held the title since 2018.
