Awkward: Chris Weidman puts Laura Sanko and Cormier on the spot questioning Pimblett’s skill

Paddy Pimblett initially joined the featherweight division – but has since switched to light weight due to near constant weight fluctuations.

Pimblett scored an unanimous decision win over Jared Gordon at UFC 282 – to the dismay of UFC athletes, MMA media and fans watching at home.

Nevertheless Pimblett is 4-0 in the UFC and has an MMA record consisting of 20 wins and 3 losses. His last loss was back in 2018 against Soren Bak via decision.

While many think Pimblett is a youthful prospect thanks to his charming personality, he’s actually 27 and has quite a number of MMA outings under his belt.

But the UFC lightweight division is stacked – in fact it’s so action packed that UFC even dropped Conor McGregor from the rankings.

And here’s Pimblett who has even had hard moments against opponents that have been cut from UFC. Luckily for him, his star power appears to be sticking which is why UFC is reluctant to publicize anything that might expose him.

During a recent appearance on an MMA show ‘Weighing in’ UFC veteran and former middleweight champion Chris Weidman posed an uncomfortable question to Daniel Cormier and Laura Sanko.

Can Pimblett hang with any of the champions?

Cormier and Sanko laughed through it uncomfortably.

Cormier provided the following take on Paddy yesterday:

“You know what’s crazy? When they compare him [Pimblett] to McGregor…. In McGregor’s fourth fight, he beat Dustin Poirier [at UFC 178 via TKO]… and then he beat Max Holloway. We can’t really compare their accomplishments, especially in the first four fights.” Cormier explained on latest edition of DC & RC.
