Jasleen, the wife of comedian Akaash Singh, is publicly airing grievances against Andrew Schulz, and the fallout stems from her appearance on Flagrant, the podcast Akaash used to co-host, back in December. Jasleen has said she hates the episode and wishes she could take it down, describing herself as someone who “cringes” when she looks back at it.
According to sources, she stated, “I did the Flagrant podcast in December, which was a podcast that my husband used to be on. I dislike the episode we did. I wish I could take it down. I look back and I like cringe at it.”
Jasleen said that the podcast’s stated philosophy was that jokes don’t require apologies, but she felt that standard only protected the men involved.
She continued, “I feel really bad for that version of myself because I trusted this person, whole ethos of that podcast was like founded on that we don’t apologize for jokes. And jokes are supposed to be flagrant. Even if it misses the mark, it’s okay because we don’t apologize for jokes. But that logic only applied to the men.”
Additionally, Jasleen has said that her husband was comfortable with jokes she made that others found off-color, but that Andrew and others treated the situation as something requiring damage control, telling her it needed to be “course-corrected” because everyone’s livelihood was on the line.
Jasleen stated, “I did definitely make jokes that were off-color for some people, but not for my husband. That’s the most important person to me. So like if my husband’s like, ‘No, I know they’re just jokes. Like I’m fine with it.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, okay, cool. You’re cool. We’re cool.'”
She continued, “To this other person, it was like, ‘No, what you did was disrespectful and we need to explain. And this needs to be course corrected cuz everyone’s livelihood is on the line and it’s your fault.'”
Jasleen has also described feeling pressured into a two-week period away from social media, something she says she didn’t actually want but felt forced into. She has said that when she brought this up with her therapist, the therapist pushed back on the idea that anyone should have told her to disappear from her own platform in the first place.
On one hand, she criticizes Flagrant for not editing or cutting parts of the episode she was uncomfortable with. On the other, she blames Andrew for the harassment that followed, rather than placing that responsibility on Akaash.
Jasleen noted, “I looked up to this person so much and this person was like a brother to us and like we had gone through a lot of like special moments together like weddings and whatever. And I trusted this person to have my back, but we had your back through so many controversies… It just makes me sad because I feel like we were so gaslit and warped into thinking that we were the problem.”
However, Jasleen continued posting on TikTok daily during her supposed break, undercutting the idea that she was truly stepping back. Additionally, her own content has increasingly relied on criticizing her husband, suggesting that trashing Akaash has become a reliable source of engagement for her.
Jasleen’s conflict with Flagrant effectively cost Akaash the podcast, which was the most significant source of income and the primary driver of ticket sales for his stand-up shows.
