Adin Ross texted Dana White after losing his bet because the ref pump faked a stoppage

Popular streamer Adin Ross was left fuming after a controversial moment during Saturday’s UFC Vancouver event when referee Dan Miragliotta appeared to stop the lightweight bout between Kyle Nelson and Matt Frevola, only to allow the bout to continue.

The incident occurred late in the first round when Canadian fighter Nelson dropped Frevola with a powerful strike and followed up with ground strikes. With just three seconds remaining in the round, Miragliotta made a gesture that many—including Ross—interpreted as waving off the fight.

“Call it! I’m done!” Ross can be heard shouting in reaction to what he believed was a stoppage victory for Nelson, apparently celebrating what he thought was a winning bet.

However, moments later, confusion swept through the arena as the referee clarified that the fight would continue. This apparent “pump fake” stoppage left Ross visibly distraught.

“He called it! Don’t do that!” Ross exclaimed repeatedly in disbelief. “I’m done! I’m done!”

The bizarre officiating moment prompted Ross to immediately contact UFC CEO Dana White about the situation. According to reports, Ross texted White directly after losing his wager due to what many viewers considered a clear officiating error.

UFC VP of Regulatory Affairs Marc Ratner later acknowledged the incident as a “referee error,” confirming that Miragliotta’s gesture was indeed misleading to fighters, fans, and bettors alike.

The controversy overshadowed what was otherwise a dominant performance by Nelson on home soil. Despite the confusion, Nelson controlled the action throughout the remaining rounds, battering Frevola with power shots and body work that earned him a unanimous decision victory (30-27, 29-28, 29-28).

For Ross and other bettors who placed wagers on a first-round finish, the referee’s ambiguous signal proved costly.

Nelson’s victory helped him bounce back from his previous loss to Steve Garcia, while Frevola’s struggles continued with his third consecutive defeat.
