Former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya is not one to hold back his opinions. The outspoken African-born Kiwi recently took to his Instagram stories to criticize the much-discussed 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony, which has drawn ire from many.
Adesanya posted a screenshot of what appears to be the ‘The Feast of the Gods’ segment of the opening ceremony, which has been accused of having biblical undertones. In his post, the fighter simply stated, “I’ll say it again… Life is one big cartoon.”

The Olympic Games committee has claimed that the segment was not intended for biblical symbolism but rather an interpretation of the Greek god Dionysus and the absurdity of human violence. However, spectators continue to criticize it for various reasons.
Shara Magomedov, a rising UFC middleweight prospect, also expressed his dismay at the controversial opening ceremony. In a recent interview, Magomedov said, ” I felt like they just tried to mock everybody. It rather looked like a meme than a real official ceremony. They really mocked people watching it.”

Magomedov, who has collected Olympic memorabilia in the past, went on to say, “Now I have no regrets about not competing at this Olympics, because now the UFC is the real Olympics for me. Not the Olympics, which is just insanity in action. Humiliating human values and all sports. It’s not about sports, it’s just a weird mix, mocking all the religions, all the moral values.”
The undefeated middleweight prospect also criticized the decision to exclude Russia from the Olympics while allowing Israel to compete, stating, “Somehow, they don’t let Russia into the Olympics, but Israel is there competing.”
