In the latest chapter of their ongoing feud, MMA journalist Ariel Helwani has responded to recent criticism from former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping and boxer Carl Froch with a scathing assessment of what he sees as Bisping’s transformation.
During a recent appearance with Froch, Bisping referred to Helwani as a “total di**head,” claiming the journalist manufactures beef with stars to make himself look good and “hates on the UFC.”

When asked about these comments on his show, Helwani expressed not anger but sadness at what he perceives as Bisping’s fall from grace.
“My takeaway was I felt really sad for Michael Bisping, because I can’t imagine what it would be like to have once been a ‘bad boy,’ to once be a ‘rule breaker,’ a pioneer, a trailblazer, a guy who marches to the beat of his own drum — to be that guy who did whatever the hell he wanted and didn’t kowtow and didn’t shill — was a rebel. That’s who Michael Bisping was,” Helwani stated.
Helwani continued by suggesting Bisping has undergone a dramatic transformation: “The guy that I was watching in that clip in particular, and the guy we have seen over the past year or so — what he has morphed into, what he has turned into — is the polar opposite of that guy.”
The veteran journalist didn’t hold back, accusing Bisping of becoming a company man willing to criticize others to advance his broadcasting career.
“He’s become the guy who will do anything in his power to get favor with his bosses — as much as he doesn’t want to admit that — just so that he could get that opportunity, that big break, that big fight at your local Apex, your local arena, at some random place in America,” Helwani said.
Particularly painful for Helwani seems to be the dissolution of what he describes as a once-close friendship.
“That’s a bummer, because I remember the old guy. The old guy was actually a really good friend. And all of a sudden, he just changed, and he says all these things and makes up all these stories and has all this vitriol towards me — someone that has never done anything but support him, but have his back.”
Helwani also directed criticism toward Froch, whom he mockingly referred to as “Flat Earth Froch,” claiming the former boxer “can’t stop talking about me — even though he says he doesn’t want to talk about me.”
Despite the harsh words, Helwani concluded on a confident note: “He’ll come around like they all do. I can assure you of that.”
The tension between these MMA personalities shows no signs of cooling down, with fans eagerly awaiting the next development in this high-profile media clash.
