In a candid social media appearance, boxing star Gervonta Davis shared his unfiltered thoughts about the recent trend of boxers engaging with Saudi Arabian boxing executive Turki Alalshikh.
Davis expressed concern about what he perceives as a troubling pattern in the sport, particularly referencing a widely circulated photograph of multiple boxers meeting with Alalshikh.
“It’s like people selling that self,” Davis said. “Even the picture where everybody was in the room, that shit look like some devil shit. Facts on this… like they sold that self.”
The Baltimore native also appeared to question the integrity of recent sporting events, making specific reference to scorecard handling. “And you see how the guy was, he looked at the scorecard,” Davis noted. “No point, you lose it, no point. No point at all.”
Davis’s comments come amid increasing Saudi Arabian involvement in professional boxing, with numerous high-profile events being held in the Kingdom and many prominent boxers signing deals to compete there.
His remarks have already generated significant discussion within the boxing community, with various stakeholders weighing in on the growing influence of Saudi funding in the sport.
When discussing the possibility of his own future endeavors, Davis remained cryptic but firm in his stance: “Man, I already know what y’all gonna do. But every time I say something, it’s like I’m here.”
The outspoken athlete’s comments provide a rare glimpse into the perspectives of active competitors regarding the changing landscape of professional boxing and its growing ties to Saudi Arabia.
