In a recent development within the MMA community, UFC light heavyweight Anthony Smith has voiced strong criticism about Quinton “Rampage” Jackson’s podcast handling of Bryce Mitchell.
Smith expressed particular concern about the treatment Mitchell received during his appearance on Jackson’s show. “If you bring someone on here and people don’t like the episode and we get [criticism] for it, that’s the game we got to live with,” Smith stated. “That’s how this business works.”
The controversy stems from Mitchell’s recent podcast appearance, which was subsequently removed from platforms. Smith revealed he personally reached out to Mitchell following the incident. “I called him today to just be like what what the hell is happening here bro,” Smith shared.

Despite his criticism of the situation, Smith emphasized his respect for Jackson, noting, “I love Rampage, he’s my favorite fighter. I’ve said that for years.”
Jackson responded to Smith’s comments through social media, defending his legacy: “I’ve been in this sport longer than Anthony Smith has been an adult. When you’ve accomplished what I have, then you can talk about my methods. Until then, keep my name out of your mouth.”
The former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion further added, “The young generation doesn’t understand what we built. I’ve earned the right to do things my way. My resume proves that my methods work.”
The situation has sparked significant discussion within the MMA community, with Mitchell receiving support from various quarters. The controversy highlights ongoing tensions between different generations of MMA personalities and their approaches to media engagement.
Jackson’s last professional appearance was at Bellator 237 in Japan in December 2019, while Smith maintains an active career in the UFC’s light heavyweight division.
