ADCC champ Gordon Ryan volunteers Georges St Pierre for ‘Governor’ of Canada

In a playful social media post that’s raising eyebrows across North America, submission grappling superstar Gordon Ryan suggested former UFC champion Georges St-Pierre should become “Governor of Canada” while attending Donald Trump’s inauguration party in Washington, D.C.

Ryan, known for his dominant performances on the competition mat, shared a video clip where he stated:

“So guys, we’re here and we’re trying to get George in for the Governor of Canada.”

The clip appears to reference recent comments made by former President Trump about Canada potentially becoming part of the United States.

The video, which features Ryan’s characteristic confidence, continued with him saying:

“You guys are in trouble if I go through the system. We’ll make it happen.”

GSP chimed in declaring his preferred title:

“Supreme Leader! That’s why I want to be called.”

St-Pierre, who was present at the same inauguration celebration alongside fellow athletes Tim Kennedy and former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, has not publicly responded to Ryan’s nomination. The Montreal native has maintained a relatively low profile in politics, focusing instead on his various business ventures since retiring from competition.

The tongue-in-cheek suggestion has sparked discussion on social media, with fans and followers debating the merits of the hypothetical position. While Canada’s governmental system doesn’t actually include governors, Ryan’s post has succeeded in creating buzz around the gathering of these high-profile personalities at the Trump event.

Neither the Canadian government nor Trump’s campaign team has commented on Ryan’s playful proposition.
