In a surprising revelation, a recent survey conducted by Action Network has uncovered some intriguing insights into the mindset of UFC fans. The study found that a significant portion of UFC fans believe they could hold their own against some of the world’s top fighters.
Perhaps most notably, 16% of fans surveyed expressed confidence that they could emerge victorious in a hypothetical match against none other than Conor McGregor. The Irish superstar, known for his brash persona and impressive achievements in the octagon, topped the list of male fighters that fans felt they could defeat.

Following McGregor in the rankings were UFC champions Sean O’Malley and Jon Jones, each garnering 10% of the vote. This suggests that even elite fighters are not immune to fans’ self-assurance. Interestingly, O’Malley was perceived as the most beatable fighter among younger fans, with those aged 18-24 favoring him over other contenders.
On the women’s side, Kayla Harrison and Natalia Silva tied for the top spot, with 12% of fans believing they could triumph against these accomplished athletes. Close behind were Julianna Peña, Alexa Grasso, and Jéssica Andrade, each receiving 11% of the vote.
The survey also delved into fans’ opinions on potential celebrity matchups. A staggering 22% of respondents expressed enthusiasm for a bout between tech titans Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. This hypothetical clash has captured the imagination of UFC fans, following playful social media exchanges between the two billionaires.
Other popular celebrity matchups included a showdown between former President Donald Trump and current President Joe Biden, which garnered 19% of the vote. A musical face-off between Kendrick Lamar and Drake also piqued interest, with 16% of fans eager to see the rappers square off.
When asked about their own prowess in the octagon, fans displayed a mix of realism and bravado. Nearly half of the respondents (49%) admitted they wouldn’t last a single round against a professional fighter. However, a confident 5% claimed they could go the distance and endure all five rounds in a UFC bout.
In one of the survey’s more whimsical questions, fans were asked which animals they believed they could defeat in combat. Surprisingly, 6% of respondents felt they could best an alligator, while only 4% expressed confidence in their ability to overcome an elk. More predictably, smaller animals like cats (57%) and possums (32%) were seen as easier opponents.
