A friendly Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu session between former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington and chart-topping rapper Lil Pump took a concerning twist during a live-streamed event at MMA Masters in Miami.
The social media star and musician, known for hits like “Gucci Gang” and “I Love It,” agreed to a light sparring match with Covington as fans watched online. What began as a seemingly casual encounter quickly escalated when Lil Pump, whose real name is Gazzy Fabio Garcia, claimed Covington wouldn’t be able to submit him swiftly.
Within minutes, the rapper learned firsthand the capabilities of a top-level mixed martial artist. Covington, showcasing his NCAA Division 1 wrestling background, effortlessly took down Garcia multiple times. Despite Garcia’s complaints about groin discomfort, Covington insisted they continue, stating, “We all face adversity in life. We just got to push through it.”
The situation intensified as Covington applied a head-and-arm choke, maintaining the hold even after Garcia tapped multiple times, causing the rapper to briefly lose consciousness. Upon regaining awareness, Garcia expressed confusion about what had transpired.
Undeterred, Garcia requested another round. This time, he attempted to grapple Covington’s legs, resulting in the UFC fighter swiftly taking his back and applying a rear-naked choke. Although Covington initially respected the tap, audience demands led to a series of submissions, culminating in another rear-naked choke that left Garcia unconscious once more.
As trainers worked to revive Garcia, Covington addressed the viewers, emphasizing the danger of their actions. “This is not for little kids to try at the gym, please do not try this at home. This is dangerous stuff, you don’t play Mixed Martial Arts,” he warned.
