(Video) Tyson Fury fans stunned to hear what he sounded like before throat punch destroyed his voice

Tyson Fury, the self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King,’ is known for his iconic trash-talking and recognizable voice in the world of sports. However, if you haven’t followed his career from an early stage, you might be surprised to learn about his speaking voice before a punch to the throat permanently altered it.

In 2008, ahead of making his professional debut on the undercard of Carl Froch vs. Jean Pascal, Fury spoke to the media, revealing a totally different voice than the one he has today. His tone was not the raspy, husky voice that fans have grown accustomed to, but rather a more youthful and clear-spoken delivery.

Fury’s voice changed as a direct result of being punched in the throat during a sparring session with Ty Mitchell back in 2015. He explained the transformation during an appearance on The MMA Hour, saying, “It wasn’t always like this though, this isn’t my original voice. If you go back and look at interviews from like 2010 onwards right up until about 2016, I didn’t have this voice.”

The boxing champion revealed that the incident with Ty Mitchell led to a blood clot in his throat, which altered his vocal patterns. “He hit me in the throat real hard and I developed a blood clot in my throat. It messed around with my vocal words, so this is why I talk like this now… Some would say it’s quite sexy, I’ve been told,” Fury said.

Tyson Fury’s whole look and voice have undergone a significant transformation since 2008, but his new style has become a trademark of his persona. As he prepares to exact revenge against Oleksandr Usyk and reclaim the world heavyweight titles in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on December 21, his fans may be surprised to hear the original sound of his voice before the throat punch changed it forever.
