Conor McGregor wins 1.6M betting on Nate Diaz to beat Jorge Masvidal

In a bold move, former UFC champion Conor McGregor has placed a $500,000 bet on his longtime rival Nate Diaz to defeat Jorge Masvidal in their upcoming boxing match. McGregor, known for his brash and confident persona, is convinced that Diaz’s “range, form, and experience” will give him the edge over Masvidal in a purely boxing contest.

“I’ve decided to put $500,000 on Diaz to win tonight’s boxing match,” McGregor wrote on Twitter. “Range, form, experience, solely hands being used, I can’t see Masvidal causing any problems to Nate in a boxing ring whatsoever.”

With Diaz listed as the underdog at +210, McGregor stood  to cash out a staggering $1,625,000 if his bet proves successful. The Irishman didn’t hold back in his assessment of the two combatants, describing them as “little play around dipshits” but ultimately believing that Diaz will have an “EASY” time against Masvidal.

The upcoming bout between Diaz and Masvidal is a highly anticipated rematch from their 2019 encounter at UFC 244, where Masvidal emerged victorious via a doctor’s stoppage. However, McGregor is confident that the switch to a boxing-only format will play to Diaz’s strengths, given his extensive experience in the sweet science.

McGregor himself has a storied history with Diaz, having faced him in two blockbuster pay-per-view events at UFC 196 and UFC 202. In their first meeting, Diaz submitted McGregor, while the Irishman earned a measure of revenge with a majority decision win in the rematch.

Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal renewed their rivalry on Saturday night, this time in a boxing ring rather than the UFC Octagon where their original bout for the BMF championship took place in 2019. The fight was a competitive clash of styles, with Diaz’s volume punching and forward movement contrasting with Masvidal’s powerful, sporadic attacks from an unexpected southpaw stance. Despite Masvidal landing more total punches (182-151), Diaz’s relentless pressure earned him a majority decision victory with scorecards of 95-95, 97-93, and 98-92. After the fight, Diaz expressed satisfaction with his win and hinted at future bouts, including a boxing rematch with Jake Paul and a return to the UFC to challenge welterweight champion Leon Edwards.
