Former UFC star and longtime podcaster Brendan Schaub has sparked controversy by suggesting a conspiracy behind the cancellation of the highly anticipated boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. The bout, originally scheduled for July 20, was scrubbed after Tyson suffered a medical emergency on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles, which was later revealed to be an ulcer flare-up.
While the fight’s promoters have already announced a new date for the event, scheduled to take place on November 15 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Schaub is not convinced that the cancellation was solely due to Tyson’s health issues. Speaking on his podcast, “Thiccc Boy,” Schaub floated a conspiracy theory, suggesting that the whole ordeal might have been a ruse to pave the way for a different, potentially more lucrative matchup: a fight between Jake Paul and his brother, Logan Paul.
Schaub’s theory hinges on a previous conversation he had with Logan Paul, in which Paul allegedly mentioned that the ultimate plan was for him and his brother to face off in the ring. Schaub questioned whether the cancellation of the Tyson-Paul fight was, in fact, a deliberate move to set the stage for a Paul brothers’ showdown, which could potentially garner more views and attention.
“When you take Mike Tyson out of that fight, my dad’s not watching it,” Schaub said. “My dad’s not watching Logan Paul. But a ton of youngsters who are confused about their pronouns are gonna tune in. What do I think gets more views overall? Jake Paul versus Logan Paul.”
Schaub’s comments come on the heels of a social media exchange between the Paul brothers, with Logan Paul offering to step in as a replacement fighter following Tyson’s withdrawal. Meanwhile, Jake Paul has been attempting to lure rival KSI into a fight on social media, suggesting a potential bout for July 20.
While Schaub’s conspiracy theory has sparked debate, it remains to be seen whether his speculation has any basis in reality. One thing is certain, however: the hype surrounding the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight has only intensified, with both camps now focused on the rescheduled date of November 15.
In a statement, Nakisa Bidarian, Co-Founder of Most Valuable Promotions, emphasized the importance of ensuring both fighters have equal training time and that the event remains at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Mike Tyson, meanwhile, has reaffirmed his commitment to the fight, stating, “Jake Paul is getting knocked out. On Friday, November 15, watch this in-person at AT&T Stadium or live on Netflix.”
As the boxing world eagerly anticipates the rescheduled bout, one thing is clear: the drama surrounding Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul has only just begun.
