Joe Rogan has expressed concern that the United States could resume military action against Iran following the midterm elections, warning that the situation could turn ugly.
During an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience featuring Francis Foster and Konstantin Kisin, Rogan discussed the ongoing conflict involving Iran and questioned whether the Trump administration could be waiting until after the elections to launch further attacks.
“I’m a little concerned about what might happen post midterm. And one of the rumblings that I’m hearing is after the midterms, the United States might start attacking Iran again,” Rogan said.
The UFC commentator and podcast host however acknowledged that he had no confirmation of the alleged plans. He added, “I don’t know if this is true or if this is just speculation, but good lord, I hope it’s not true.”
Rogan also questioned why the conflict had seemingly disappeared from mainstream media coverage despite the ongoing strategic implications, particularly surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.
“Because this whole Iran thing is like we’re at war, but no one talks about it anymore,” Rogan said. “It’s been this like stagnated thing in the media. And what is going on with the Strait of Hormuz?”
He subsequently questioned whether political considerations could be influencing the timing of any potential military action, arguing that launching an attack before the elections could hurt Republicans.
“So like what happens after the midterms? Because right if they did it right now, they’d get crushed in the midterms,” Rogan said.
“And there’s a lot of speculation they’re already going to lose in the midterms. So if they’re waiting until after that’s over before they do this, things can get real ugly.”
Kisin meanwhile suggested that Donald Trump could face significant political challenges following the elections, potentially limiting his ability to navigate the conflict.
“Trump’s got the midterms to worry about. You know after the midterms he’s not going to have the House, may not have the Senate. He’s going to be up to his eyeballs in investigations, congressional committees, impeachment proceed, all of that,” Kisin said.
The British commentator argued that Iran could exploit the situation to increase pressure on Washington, potentially demanding concessions that include the withdrawal of American military bases from the Middle East.
Rogan also questioned the extent of the damage sustained by US military infrastructure in the region, saying: “Well, they’ve already messed up the American bases in the Middle East to a point where it’s going to take decades to fix them, right?”
Toward the end of the discussion, Rogan admitted that the possibility of renewed military action had been weighing on him.
“It’s disturbing to think that this could pop off after the midterms. It really is. It’s been bothering me a lot the last few days,” he said.
