Comedian Stavros Halkias recently addressed criticism from some former fans who accuse him of abandoning his original audience. During a broadcast, Halkias pushed back against claims that he betrayed his day-one supporters by becoming more vocal about his political beliefs.
“If you’re so stupid that you didn’t realize… Nick Mullen is more communist than I am,” Halkias said. “We’ve been leftist the whole time. You people are so stupid that say I’ve betrayed my day one fans. That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard in my life.”
The comedian explained that his political views haven’t changed, but rather that he felt compelled to speak out after other comedians began supporting what he considers problematic political figures.
“These are my beliefs. I just haven’t been talking about them until other comedians decided it’s time to help put fascists in the White House,” he stated.
Halkias also dismantled the “sellout” label itself, arguing that his leftist views actually make him less commercially appealing to major corporations.
“No one likes leftist views. Do you think these giant corporations want you to talk about profit sharing?” he asked. “I have the kind of view like… you can’t sell out when you’re saying tax me but give it to homeless people.”
He emphasized that true selling out means staying quiet and being brand-safe, not speaking honestly about political issues. Halkias revealed he has turned down lucrative advertising deals from companies he considers unethical, which contradicts the sellout narrative.
During the broadcast, Halkias was also asked about fellow content creator Hasan Piker, whom he has frequently mocked in the past. Despite his usual roasting approach, Halkias found himself defending Piker against coordinated attacks.
“If you’re that stupid that you don’t understand that you are being tricked into disliking Hasan, he’s just a nerd who happens to be sexy,” Halkias said. “I know he looks stupid in his suits but he’s not wrong about what’s going on.”
