Callum Turner Says His Biggest Gym Pet Peeve Is Men Wearing Tights

Callum Turner has some strong feelings about what men choose to wear at the gym, and during an appearance on Rolling Stone’s Popcorn Questions series alongside his co-star Monica Barbaro, he made those feelings known without reservation.

When asked what pet peeve he would take medication to treat, Turner had an immediate answer.

“My pet peeve is guys that wear tights in the gym,” the actor said. Barbaro noted that “Callum has a lot of pet peeves,” a point Turner reinforced with a firm “I h*te it.”

When pressed on how he would medicate for the annoyance, Turner offered what amounted to a practical remedy.

“Why don’t you just wear shorts?” he asked, before detailing his ideal solution. “I’d want a spray to cover the bits. I don’t want to see the bits. Stop it. Stop it. Stop it. Seriously, stop it.”

Former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway recently disclosed that he turned down wrestling in high school, even as friends pushed him to join the team, largely because he was uncomfortable with the idea of wearing a traditional wrestling singlet.

Looking back, Holloway considers the decision ironic, given that he now competes in tights on a regular basis and believes wrestling could have been a valuable part of his MMA development.

The two perspectives form a curious contrast: one athlete who avoided an entire sport over discomfort with athletic wear, and an actor who takes genuine issue with seeing men voluntarily choose that same style at the gym. Holloway accepted tights out of competitive necessity. Turner, by the look of it, remains firmly unconvinced that a casual gym session calls for the same concession.
