Zuffa Boxing Claims 14k Attendance In A 9500 Seat Arena

A clip shared online caught widespread attention online after it revealed that Zuffa Boxing’s broadcast team announced an attendance figure of more than 14,000 for a recent card, a number that did not sit well with observers who know the venue well.

The event took place at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland, a facility with approximately 9,300 fixed seats. The arena can reach higher total capacities through standing configurations, with figures between 13,000 and 14,500 depending on how the space is arranged for a given event. Even so, the announced number drew immediate skepticism, particularly from those who noted that portions of the venue appeared visibly sparse during the broadcast.

Jed I. Goodman was first to flag the discrepancy publicly, writing on X: “They don’t want you to see that they said 14K+.”

The clip was subsequently taken down, with a notice on the post indicating the media had been “disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner.” For many followers of the story, that removal only intensified curiosity about the original claim.

The skepticism was not limited to those estimating the crowd size from the broadcast. An user pushed back on the venue’s capacity itself, sharing a screenshot stating that the 3Arena has a seated capacity of approximately 9,000 to 9,500, while its maximum capacity of around 13,000 applies to configurations featuring a standing area.

That distinction further fueled questions about how a 14,000-plus attendance figure could have been reached for a boxing event where the upper bowl was reportedly closed.

Steven Muehlhausen also weighed in, claiming that the arena’s capacity is 9,300 and offering a much lower estimate of the actual turnout. “Talking to people in and around Ireland the last 2 days, they had only sold around 3,800 tickets as of early this morning and the upper bowl was closed off,” Muehlhausen wrote. He then questioned why the attendance figure was being discussed at all, arguing that the venue appeared “pretty empty” based on what was visible.

SCS Combat, another account with a following in the combat sports community, tied the attendance announcement to broader concerns about the quality of the broadcast: “I was talking about the commentary being bad and this proves it, that isn’t even possible at a max capacity btw 😂”

Seán Sheehan pointed to what he believed was visible evidence on screen: “Lol and the upper deck is closed 🤣🤣🤣 He must have meant 4000.”
