Forbes has confirmed what the media industry has been watching closely: podcasting is now one of the most lucrative spaces in entertainment, with the earnings behind its biggest names proving just how far the format has traveled.
The publication’s 2026 Highest Paid Podcasters list, covering earnings from June 2025 through June 2026, places Joe Rogan at the very top. His flagship program, The Joe Rogan Experience, generated an estimated $86 million during that period.

Right behind Rogan sit tech creators John Coogan and Jordi Hays, who brought in an estimated $70 million. Their rise up the earnings ladder was fueled in large part by an OpenAI acquisition that reshaped the scale of their business almost overnight.
British entrepreneur Steven Bartlett rounds out the upper tier with an estimated $45 million. The founder of Diary of a CEO has long championed the independent creator model, and his earnings validate that philosophy on a global stage. As the lines between podcaster, television host, and digital creator continue to blur, Bartlett’s success reinforces that independence, paired with a loyal audience, can function as its own kind of media enterprise.
Hip-hop’s presence on this year’s list is hard to ignore. Charlamagne Tha God earned an estimated $27 million, a figure built on iHeartMedia partnerships and Netflix deals that have steadily extended his reach well beyond his radio roots. His placement on the list reflects how media influence, when developed with intention, can unlock opportunities across multiple entertainment platforms.
Joe Budden also landed among the industry’s top earners, pulling in an estimated $20 million. His independent podcast network and a Patreon community of roughly 70,000 loyal subscribers form the core of that income, a clear signal that direct connections with audiences can compete with deals backed by major corporations.
What began as an alternative to traditional media is now a full industry where ownership, audience loyalty, and well-timed partnerships can generate returns that rival some of entertainment’s most established platforms.
