A figure in the online ‘alpha male’ space known as King Azoulay recently appeared on a podcast to lecture on gender roles, independent women, and the supposed failures of feminism, despite carrying a cr*minal record and reportedly living with his mother.
The podcast, called Jeremy Awakens, introduced Azoulay with considerable fanfare. “He is a man that’s been to jail seven different times,” the host said, framing the repeated incarcerations as part of an inspirational arc. “He went from chaos to becoming a multi-millionaire at the age of 24.”
The episode accumulated around 200 views, a modest figure for someone who presents himself as one of the most prominent men in the world.
With that backdrop established, Azoulay moved into his views on women and work. He took particular issue with female independence, arguing that it runs against how women are designed to function.
“When a man works, he works to provide to a family,” he said. “When a woman works, she works so she doesn’t need a man.”
He went on to suggest that when women pursue this kind of independence, they lose their ability to bond and ultimately avoid having children, since a child becomes, in his words, a burden.
He painted a specific picture of what he believes this lifestyle leads to: “When you see a woman that is 40, 45, 50 years old, coming back home to a cat, to a Mercedes, to three Gucci bags or a Louis Vuitton bag, a Rolex watch, and she ain’t got nobody waiting for her, she becomes depressed.” He added that such women become “a headache for society.”
To anchor his point, Azoulay turned to a biblical argument: “Women are very easy to manipulate. That’s why in the Garden of Eden when the snake wanted Adam to eat from the apple, he spoke to him through Eve.”
A commentary host who covered the podcast for his own channel, was quick to point out the contradiction. While Azoulay described the lonely, unfulfilled woman returning home to luxury items with nobody waiting for her, the host noted that Azoulay himself returns home to his mother.
“Isn’t Azoulay in the same situation technically, except he goes back to his mom?” he said. “That’s pretty rich of this guy to criticize people so easily, but he lives with his mom.”
The host also questioned what qualifies Azoulay to speak with authority on marriage and relationships, noting that he gave up his own wife to pursue his online persona, and that the same podcast host who introduced him so enthusiastically also disclosed his seven trips to jail. Seven incarcerations and living with your mother are not exactly the background one expects from a self-appointed relationship expert.
