UFC featherweight Bryce Mitchell has taken aim at astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, calling him dishonest and challenging him to a public debate over the shape of the Earth.
The comments came during a recent episode of Mitchell’s podcast where Mitchell responded to Tyson’s appearance on Logan Paul’s show, during which the scientist expressed skepticism about the existence of God and claimed that science disproves the Bible.
“He’s such a fake dude,” Mitchell said of Tyson. “Here’s the thing about Neil deGrasse. He literally is scared of me. He will not debate me. He’s just like a rat. He hides in a hole every time somebody tries to debate him.”
Mitchell, an outspoken flat Earth proponent and devout Christian, made clear he has no respect for Tyson’s refusal to engage with him directly.
“A real man of character, a real man of God does not fear another man’s words. There is nothing you can say, buddy, to disprove me. There is nothing you can say to make me a coward, to make me afraid of you,” Mitchell declared. “I will show up with words and I will destroy you. I will destroy your evil satanic lies.”
The Arkansas-based star, who is known for his unconventional views, went further by accusing Tyson of deliberately misleading the public about the nature of the planet.
He stated, “I know you’re a Freemason. I don’t care. I’m telling you I’m going to stand on the truth, brother, and you know the Earth is flat. That’s why I don’t like Neil. It’s cuz he knows the Earth is flat.”
Mitchell drew a distinction between people who are simply confused about the topic and those he believes are intentionally spreading falsehoods.
“The difference is Neil is deliberately lying about the shape of the earth. He is a known Freemason and he knows that the earth is flat. All the Freemasons know the earth is flat,” he said.
Mitchell also referenced a viral video involving Shaquille O’Neal as further evidence of celebrities concealing what he considers to be the truth.
The UFC star argued that the reason this information is suppressed is theological. “This information has to be hid from the general public because it directly implies that God created the earth. Once you find out the earth is flat, then you know that Jesus is real. God is real because the Bible describes the firmament.”
Throughout the episode, Mitchell held firm to his beliefs, dismissing mainstream scientific consensus entirely. “This guy’s a fraud,” he said of Tyson before moving on to other topics. “Anybody that believes anything about the moon landing or anything that NASA says… total nonsense.”
