UFC bantamweight Sean O’Malley has revealed that he follows a strict seed retention practice, limiting s3xual activity to a maximum of twice per week during camp to preserve his energy and focus ahead of bouts.
Appearing on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast, O’Malley opened up about his approach to managing his physical output before matches, crediting the discipline as a key component of his preparation.
“I haven’t jacked off in a year and a half,” O’Malley told the hosts, explaining that the practice began following a personal reset in December 2024. “I take these mushrooms. I got off social media, quit jaying off. And it’s really changed my life.”
While O’Malley is married, the athlete operates on a strict schedule during training camp. “You get two nuts out of me a week,” he said, describing what he communicates to his wife. “Right now in camp, you get a Wednesday nut and a Saturday nut.”
The reasoning behind the specific timing is deliberate. “Why? Cuz I spar Wednesday. I need my chi. I need my energy,” O’Malley explained.
The physical impact of not following this regimen, according to O’Malley, is noticeable. “If I ja*ked off this morning, I’d probably want like I’m going to kind of chill out, lay back home,” he said, making clear the difference it makes to his energy levels on training days.
O’Malley also connected the practice to his decision to step away from social media, which he said was fueling urges that distracted him from his priorities.
“I get normal levels of h*rny throughout like life, but when I’m on social media, and it’s my biggest weakness,” he admitted.
The combination of quitting social media and adopting seed retention has, by O’Malley’s account, resulted in a meaningful shift in his mindset and daily life. He credits the December 2024 reset with helping him become more present as a father to his two young children and sharper as an athlete.
