Bill Maher Stands Up For Women’s Sports: Far-left Is Hurting Women

On a recent episode of the Club Random Podcast, Bill Maher sat down with neuroscientist Dr. Debra Soh to discuss a range of topics, including the far-left’s handling of transgender issues in women’s sports.

Maher did not hold back when addressing the contradiction he sees in far-left politics around women’s rights.

“It is amazing to me the way the far-left m*rons just work their way back to positions that are actually hurting the people they pretend that they’re championing,” he said. “Women used to be one of their big causes.”

He specifically called out Title IX as a landmark achievement that has since been turned on its head.

“Title IX was one of their big achievements and then it was like, Title IX, women should have an equal thing in sports, and we’re gonna throw the man in the pool,” Maher said.

Dr. Soh agreed with Maher’s assessment, noting that the most committed trans activists are unlikely to change course regardless of public opinion.

“I’m glad to see it being turned around though,” she said. “I do think like the most unhinged of the trans activists are going to continue doing their thing till the end of time.”

Maher was direct about where he stands on the question of biological women versus trans women: “If you dare to say that there’s any difference at all between a biological woman and a trans woman, you are an evil person. You are a bigot.”

He made clear he finds this position unreasonable.

The two also touched on how other countries, including progressive ones, have approached the issue with far more caution.

“Every other country did,” Maher said. “They just said, ‘Whoa, you know what? This might not look good in the future. Maybe we should slow it down a little bit.'”

Maher was equally critical of policies allowing children to transition without parental consent.

“This is far out stuff,” he said. “And to sort of plant your flag and say, yes, this is extremely new and extremely radical, and also, if you don’t go along, you’re crazy and wrong, and it’s like, wait a second.”

Soh raised the alarming prospect of children being removed from their homes over these disputes. “Even if the parents do find out, they will take the kids away and put them in sanctuary states,” she said. “If you have a child and you don’t even get to have the final say in terms of the medical interventions they’re undergoing.”

Maher closed his thoughts on the subject by saying that using children as leverage in a culture war crossed a clear moral line. He said, “To use children as cannon fodder in this culture war, to me, is a little low. Even the mafia doesn’t bring in the family.”
