Jake Paul: Dana White Lost $1M Betting On Ben Askren Against Me

Jake Paul has never been shy about calling out UFC President Dana White, and in a recent sit-down with Complex News, he went there again, this time bringing up a story about a million-dollar bet White allegedly placed against him before his match with Ben Askren.

The conversation started when the interviewer mentioned that he had recently spoken with White, who had commented on Paul’s match with Anthony Joshua, saying that “everyone involved in the promotion of that match should be ashamed of themselves,” citing the size difference between the two as his reasoning.

Paul was not impressed with the criticism and fired back immediately, pointing out what he sees as hypocrisy from the UFC boss. “The UFC started with no weight classes,” Paul said. “So, should he fire himself? Like, gotcha b**ch.”

He then took things a step further, bringing up a specific incident involving Askren that he says reveals a lot about where White actually stands.

Paul said, “Mind you, this is the guy who was like trying to pay millions of dollars. He was paying Ben Askren in training camp, getting him coaches, and then tried to place a million-dollar bet that Ben Askren would beat me. And then he no showed after I knocked him out in the first round. So Dana, where’s my money? You still owe me a million.”

Paul did not stop there. When asked whether he thinks White is nervous about the rise of MVP MMA, Paul gave a pointed answer.

He said, “I don’t think so, man. I think he’s checked out. Bro is already a billionaire. He’s just going and gambling. He’s happy with his life.”

He also noted that being underestimated has been a running theme throughout his career. Paul stated, “Everyone in my whole career underestimates me and then I surpass expectations and they’re like, ‘Oh, okay. Yeah, well, he’s there now.'”
