During episode #2488 of the The Joe Rogan Experience, host Joe Rogan discussed President Donald Trump with Australian comedian James McCann.
Speaking on the subject of America’s homeless crisis, McCann recalled Trump raising the idea of reopening mental health facilities. He said, “I remember Trump talked about a little bit the need to have asylums again because they closed the asylums.”
He also credited the administration’s use of the National Guard to address street-level disorder in American cities, arguing that public reaction was more supportive than critics acknowledged.
Pointing to deployments during unrest, “You saw Trump bring the army in to places like Portland or the National Guard to clear it out and I think people were quietly kind of pleased that that was happening,” he said, before adding, “There were people that pushed back.”
The conversation then turned to whether a sitting president could justify remaining in office due to an ongoing war. The two talked about Ukraine’s delayed elections, prompting a comparison closer to home.
“Well, if we did that today, if Trump said, ‘Hey, I have to stay president because we’re at war,’ no,” Rogan said. He emphasized the potential backlash such a move would trigger, adding, “People would go crazy. Yeah. They would light New York City on fire. There’s no chance.”
Rogan also addressed the legal battles Trump faced before returning to the White House, suggesting the stakes were significant regardless of the election outcome.
“Trump, if he hadn’t won, they would have got him in jail on something,”McCaan mentioned.
Rogan agreed, saying, “Most likely. I mean, they were trying to get him in jail on anything.”
Later in the episode, the two men discussed Iran and the situation surrounding eight women protesters who had been scheduled for execution. Rogan read aloud a post from Trump’s social media platform, quoting the president directly.
“So to the Iranian leaders who will soon be in negotiations with my representatives, I would greatly appreciate the release of these women,” Rogan read. “I’m sure they do and will respect that.”
Moments later, Rogan read a follow-up message describing the reported outcome. “Very good news. I just been informed the eight women protesters who are going to be executed tonight in Iran will no longer be k*lled.”
He continued: “Four will be released immediately and four will be sentenced to one month in prison. I very much appreciate that Iran and its leaders respected my request as president of the United States and terminated the planned execution.”
Reacting to the development, Rogan offered a measured but positive assessment. “That’s a good concession that they decided to let these ladies free,” he said.
