WWE Champion CM Punk recently shared his thoughts on Ronda Rousey’s return to MMA during an interview with talkSPORT USA.
When asked about Rousey’s comeback to MMA after more than a decade away from the sport, Punk expressed enthusiasm while tempering expectations.
“I think it’s great. We’re going to find out if she’s still got it,” the WWE 2K26 cover athlete stated. “I think competing at an older age, trust me, I am the an expert on this. It’s not the easiest thing to do.”
The Best in the World acknowledged the challenges that come with competing at an advanced age, speaking from personal experience. However, he noted that the circumstances surrounding Rousey’s return make it an intriguing matchup for fans.
“But she’s competing against somebody who’s like age comparable, who also has had a long layoff,” Punk explained. “Both big names, both big superstars. I think people are going to tune in to watch this and I know I will.”
After leaving WWE briefly in 2014, Punk signed with the UFC despite having no professional MMA background. His run in the promotion was short-lived, with losses in bouts against Mickey Gall in 2016 and Mike Jackson in 2018.
The interview took place as Punk prepares for his second consecutive WrestleMania main event, this time facing Roman Reigns.
Before discussing Rousey, Punk addressed comments from Drew McIntyre, who had appeared on the same radio station earlier. McIntyre had made pointed remarks about Punk’s position as the WWE 2K26 cover athlete, which Punk dismissed as attention-seeking behavior.
“It’s what everybody does. They got to talk about the cover athlete. They got to talk about the champ to stay relevant to say anything interesting,” Punk responded when asked about McIntyre’s comments.
As WrestleMania approaches, Punk maintains his focus on defending his championship, first against Finn Balor at Elimination Chamber in his hometown of Chicago, before the highly anticipated showdown with Reigns.
