Joe Rogan has been open about his use of testosterone replacement therapy for years, crediting it as an essential tool for maintaining his physical fitness and overall health. During a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience with guest Michael Malice, the topic came up naturally during a discussion about fitness and health optimization.
“I’ve been on testosterone replacement for a long time and I highly recommend it to anybody who wants to stay in shape,” Rogan stated plainly.
He explained that he started the therapy when he was approaching 40 years old, initially using a cream formulation before transitioning to other methods. At the time, Rogan was training intensively, practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu four to five days per week while also maintaining a rigorous weightlifting schedule.
The decision to begin hormone replacement came after consulting with a doctor who specialized in the field and had extensive experience working with patients who had head injuries.
Rogan explained: “I had a doctor that specialized in that stuff. One of those things was hormone replacement therapy and doing a lot of it for people that had head injuries because people with head injuries… people that have had CTE, have damage to your pituitary gland. A lot of times your brain is not producing testosterone at the level it’s supposed to.”
For Rogan, the constant physical demands of his training regimen were taking a toll. He was perpetually exhausted despite his commitment to fitness.
After medical evaluation and consultation, testosterone replacement therapy provided a solution that allowed him to maintain his active lifestyle and training schedule.
Rogan’s endorsement of the therapy extends beyond his personal experience. He noted that many people who once criticized him for using testosterone replacement 15 years ago are now on it themselves, having come to understand its benefits for men experiencing age-related hormonal decline.
However, Rogan was quick to caution against young people, particularly teenagers and high school students, jumping on PEDs.
He expressed serious concern about the trend of adolescents using exogenous testosterone, warning that introducing external hormones at a young age can permanently damage the endocrine system.
He stated: ” It’s just like it kills your d***k. When you put a bunch of exogenous testosterone in your body, your body stops making testosterone. And so say if you’re on a cycle for like a month, two months, it will take you four months for your body to get back to normal.”
The podcast host emphasized that for younger individuals looking to improve their physique and performance, there are plenty of safe, natural alternatives available, such as creatine supplementation, proper nutrition, and consistent training.
