Derek from MPMD tells Joe Rogan about what happens to you when you start using tren

In a recent conversation on The Joe Rogan Experience, Derek from More Plates More Dates provided an eye-opening breakdown of what happens to users when they begin taking trenbolone, commonly known as “tren.” The discussion shed light on one of bodybuilding’s most notorious compounds and its dramatic effects on both body and mind.

Derek explained that trenbolone is a uniquely powerful anabolic steroid originally developed for veterinary use in cattle. What makes it particularly sought after in athletic circles is its exceptional ability to build lean muscle mass while simultaneously promoting fat loss.

Unlike many st**oids that cause water retention and bloating, tren produces a distinctly dry, hard appearance that bodybuilders and athletes find desirable.

However, the physical benefits come with significant psychological consequences. Derek described how tren profoundly affects users’ mental states, often inducing extreme paranoia and jealousy.

Derek stated: “It makes you hyper paranoid as well, which is no good because even though you’re this jacked sometimes confident guy, other times you’re like you’re unreasonably insecure,” he stated. He noted a very common outcome where “guys to think their girlfriends are cheating on them just out of nowhere by being on Tren.”

The sleep disruption caused by trenbolone is particularly extreme. Derek detailed the phenomenon of “tren sweats,” where users experience menopause-like hot flashes during sleep, waking up completely drenched in sweat.

Additionally, “tren cough” can occur when the compound enters the bloodstream too quickly during injection, causing violent coughing fits lasting several minutes.

Derek talked about it in detail, stating: “It also ruins your sleep, so you get like Tren cough. But Tren sweats is another one where it almost induces a menopause like hot flash, sweating in your sleep, and you wake up just f**king drenched.”

Derek candidly admitted to experiencing this himself, describing it as “one of the most pathetic” scenarios.

Perhaps most concerning is trenbolone’s reputation for inducing what Derek termed “sexual deviancy.” The compound’s effects on dopamine levels and progesterone receptors can lead to unusual changes in sexual behavior and preferences.

Combined with the aggression, paranoia, and sleep deprivation, trenbolone creates a perfect storm of psychological instability.

Despite these alarming side effects, Derek explained why athletes continue using it: trenbolone excels at preserving muscle tissue during caloric deficits, making it invaluable for weight-cutting fighters and bodybuilders preparing for competition.

He said: “It’s like really f**king potent and good at what it does.  It builds lean mass and it’s like really dry compound. Doesn’t make you watery, also has a unique anti-catabolic effect. So you don’t… in a deficit you keep muscle and sometimes even grow while you’re cutting.”

Derek says trenbolone is extraordinarily effective but carries significant psychological and physiological risks that users should carefully consider.
