In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, entertainment executive Mams Taylor addressed questions about his business partnership with controversial figure Andrew Tate, drawing comparisons to other high-profile personalities in combat sports.
Taylor, who is collaborating with Tate on combat sports events, responded candidly when asked if he had reservations about the association given Tate’s controversial public image.
“I spoke to him and we had a very honest conversation and genuine conversation about it,” Taylor explained. “I think almost all the charges have been dismissed, and nothing concrete has ever come out.”
The entertainment producer went on to contextualize his decision by pointing to precedents in the industry. “It’s combat sports, first of all. You know, you had Mike Tyson on Netflix,” Taylor noted, referring to the boxing legend’s recent media appearances despite past legal troubles.
Taylor continued, making a distinction between allegations and convictions: “I don’t believe Mike did the things that he was accused of, but he was convicted. Andrew hasn’t been convicted of anything.”
The executive expressed skepticism about the reliability of social media accusations. “There’s so much stuff on social media, so many accusations and so much AI and so much whatever else,” he stated.
Clarifying his professional role, Taylor emphasized: “My job is to provide an entertainment platform with action, with real fights. And that’s it.”
He also addressed the ethical considerations of his decision: “Obviously I don’t want to platform anyone I think is a truly evil person or anything like that. And I just don’t think that any of those things are true about him.”
Andrew Tate has remained a divisive public figure, facing various allegations and legal challenges in recent years. Most notably, Romanian authorities investigated Tate on serious charges, though many of these have reportedly been dismissed according to Taylor.
