Sean Strickland says his generation “ruined smacking”, urges parents to “hit them f**king kids”

UFC middleweight contender Sean Strickland has once again stirred controversy on social media, this time sharing his unfiltered views on parenting and physical discipline. The outspoken star took to Twitter to express his belief that modern parents need to return to corporal punishment.

“My generation ruined smacking your kids…” Strickland wrote in a tweet that quickly gained attention. “A lot of us didnt get smacked for being bad kids, we got smacked for a bad day at work. Fast forward yall raising a bunch of a**holes because ‘I dont want to be like my dad’ hit them f**king kids!!!!!!!!”

The former UFC middleweight champion didn’t stop there, following up with additional posts on the subject. “It is too late to go back to smacking kids, the damage is done. Them kids are f**ked up….. The only solution at this point is smacking parents…. But seriously hit your kids.. Its ok…..” he added in a subsequent tweet.

Strickland’s comments reflect his provocative approach to social commentary, which has made him one of the most polarizing figures in mixed martial arts. The California native has never shied away from expressing controversial opinions, often drawing both criticism and support from fans and fellow fighters.

Meanwhile, Strickland’s name has been circulating in discussions about potential matchups. Robert Whittaker, speaking with Fox Sports Australia host Niko Pajarillo, expressed interest in facing Strickland at the highly anticipated UFC White House event, which is planned as part of America’s 250th anniversary celebration.

“I would love to fight Sean Strickland in front of the White House. For one, I think this is going to be a monumental occasion. When are you ever going to be able to fight in front of the White House ever again?” Whittaker said during the interview.

The Australian star elaborated on why this particular matchup appeals to him: “I’ve been trying to fight Sean for the longest of times. Just because I like that fight, we’ve been in the same circus for a while. He’s still ranked 3, which puts me right back into a conversation I want to be a part of. And, I think it would be a fun fight, I think it will be a good fight to watch.”

Strickland lost his UFC middleweight championship in his most recent bout against Dricus du Plessis, while Whittaker has dropped his last two contests, most recently falling to Reinier de Ridder in July 2025.

Beyond his parenting commentary, Strickland has remained active on social media discussing various political and social topics. When one follower suggested his tax bracket should influence his behavior online, the fighter responded: “Lmao you can give me all the money in the world but you aint taking the white trash out of me.”
