Andrew Tate claims an armed intruder came at him and his brother – but it’s not true

Controversial influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan recently made alarming claims on social media about a gunman threatening them at their Romanian compound. What initially appeared to be a serious security incident quickly unraveled into something far different from their dramatic narrative.

According to sources, the story began with Andrew Tate posting about “a man with a gun outside his house.”

It was followed minutes later by Tristan’s tweet claiming “there is a gunman at my house.”

Their family spokesperson described the situation as involving “a man with a firearm, live streaming his actions,” and praised their security team for conducting a “swift and controlled operation” to neutralize the threat.

However, the reality was considerably less dramatic. The “gunman” turned out to be a cryptocurrency promoter carrying a BB gun – specifically, a non-lethal airsoft pistol – while live streaming a publicity stunt to promote his digital token.

Romanian police confirmed the weapon was non-lethal, and the individual was a 27-year-old man conducting what he claimed was a “24-hour challenge” to stay outside the Tate residence.

The most telling discrepancy emerged when comparing accounts of the incident. While the cryptocurrency promoter insisted he remained on a public road, made no noise, and posed no threats, Andrew Tate told news reporters a starkly different story.

Tate claimed the man was “screaming threats and waving a weapon around,” escalating the narrative far beyond what the evidence suggested.

The promoter maintained throughout that he stayed on public property, never stepped onto the sidewalk near the house, and repeatedly mentioned on his live stream that the gun was fake. Romanian police analyzed the situation and released him without charges, though he may face a fine for the incident.

This incident follows a pattern for Andrew Tate of exaggerating security threats. Previously, he claimed a “German leftist” with “mu**erous intent” attacked a construction worker at his property with a blade. Romanian media later reported the incident involved a Ukrainian man who got into an altercation with construction workers over noise, using a stick rather than a knife, with no serious injuries requiring medical attention.
