Former presidential candidate Andrew Yang criticized former Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign strategy. He talked about Harris’s decision to decline an appearance on Joe Rogan’s influential podcast during the 2024 presidential race.
In a recent interview with Mario Nawfal on X, Yang didn’t mince words about what he considered a major strategic error by the Harris campaign.
“The fact that Kamala didn’t go on Joe Rogan when she had the opportunity, I thought was malpractice,” Yang stated. He characterized it as a “very, very strange risk-averse campaign decision,” adding that the only way such a decision would make sense is if “their numbers show that they’re winning significantly.”
Yang emphasized Rogan’s substantial cultural influence, describing him as the “biggest media figure” whose endorsement of Trump played a considerable role in the election outcome. He pointed out that Trump’s appearance on Rogan’s podcast garnered an impressive 41 million views, exceeding the viewership of the presidential debates.
The tech entrepreneur also highlighted Elon Musk’s impact on the election, noting Musk’s significant financial investment and influence. “Elon’s obviously a needle mover, freaking biggest following on X, spent over a hundred million dollars that we know of, probably more, carries an enormous amount of sway with a lot of people,” Yang remarked.
Yang recalled that Musk had endorsed him during his own presidential run four years ago, though he acknowledged that Musk “wasn’t as involved politically” at that time. According to Yang, Musk’s full engagement in this election cycle represented a “massive shift” that moved “a significant proportion of Silicon Valley in Trump’s direction.”
