The brother of indie wrestler Stuart “Syko Stu” Smith has provided a reassuring update on his sibling’s condition following a surprising incident that left the performer hospitalized after an encounter with Raja Jackson, son of former UFC champion Rampage Jackson.
Andrew Smith took to Facebook to share encouraging news about his brother’s recovery, stating that “Stuart is conscious and does have some recollection of events from the day of the attack.”

The update brought relief to wrestling fans and supporters who had been anxiously awaiting word on the wrestler’s condition after disturbing footage circulated online showing the violent encounter.
“He’s currently resting and says, ‘Thank you for the love and support,'” Andrew Smith wrote.
The incident occurred at a KnokX Pro Wrestling event on August 23rd when what was intended as a scripted wrestling segment spiraled out of control. According to accounts from those present, Syko Stu initially believed Raja Jackson was part of the planned entertainment when he slammed a beer can on Jackson’s head. The misunderstanding quickly escalated when Stu realized his mistake and apologized profusely.
Despite the apparent resolution, promoters encouraged Raja to enter the ring as part of the storyline. However, the situation deteriorated rapidly when Raja delivered multiple strikes to Stu’s face, leaving the wrestler bloodied and eventually unconscious on the mat. The severity of the assault shocked witnesses and viewers of the livestream.
“What was supposed to be a planned and agreed-upon wrestling spot, turned into a selfish, irresponsible act of violence against Mr. Smith. This egregious act is reprehensible and never should have occurred,” KnokX officials stated in their response to the incident.
The wrestling community has responded with an outpouring of support for Smith, a U.S. Army veteran who found solace in professional wrestling as a way to cope with PTSD. A GoFundMe campaign organized by Contessa Patterson has already raised $50,000 toward a $60,000 goal to help cover medical expenses, recovery support, and lost income.
“Stuart Smith is a U.S. Army veteran who used wrestling as an outlet to deal with his PTSD, this incident has not only caused major physical harm, but will also disrupt his career inside the ring and outside of it,” the fundraiser description explains.
Notable figures from the wrestling world have contributed to the cause, including veteran performer Chris Jericho, who donated $2,500 to support Smith’s recovery efforts.
The incident has had far-reaching consequences beyond Smith’s hospitalization. The LAPD has confirmed they are actively investigating the matter, while WWE severed ties with KnokX Pro Wrestling, removing all references to the promotion from their official Talent Recruitment website.
