Former UFC champion BJ Penn has escalated his troubling social media behavior with increasingly surprising allegations about his family members. He is now claiming his daughter is not only an imposter but an extraterrestrial being masquerading as his child.
The 46-year-old mixed martial artist, who has been embroiled in a controversial custody battle and facing multiple restraining orders, recently shared footage from custody hearings while making extraordinary claims about his 16-year-old daughter. Penn alleges the teenager attempted to orchestrate his arrest following a family trip to Waikoloa, claiming she told him, “I make 20K if I get you in jail today.”
According to Penn’s account, his daughter tried to manipulate him into a confrontation with her boyfriend that would result in his arrest. This alleged incident prompted Penn to demand DNA testing, stating in his post: “I never treated or talked my father like this – we have to take a DNA test.”
The former welterweight and lightweight champion claims his request for genetic testing led his children to obtain a temporary restraining order against him, supported by Child Protective Services and their mother.
In a recorded conversation with CPS case manager AJ Tolentino, Penn can be heard questioning: “Is it in anyone’s best interest that the kids don’t come and get a DNA test for me?”
Penn’s allegations have now expanded far beyond questioning paternity. In a recent social media post, he outlined an elaborate conspiracy theory involving the systematic replacement of his entire family with imposters. He claims his mother was “taken out” from her position at the Department of Agriculture 15 years ago, followed by his father at an unspecified time.

Most disturbing are his assertions about his children. Penn alleges that his first daughter Aeva was replaced “with another baby in a disguise” shortly after birth, while claiming his second daughter Kulia “is not even mine she’s just in a disguise that looks like me.” He also references the alleged poisoning of someone named JD and his family.
The conspiracy extends to infrastructure, with Penn claiming the perpetrators “use the trees and they use tunnels” with “tunnels everywhere under everybody’s house.” Despite these overwhelming alleged threats, Penn maintains a defiant stance, declaring: “when you f**k with me, you f**k with the best! Wherever you wanna take it, I will beat you in every single f**king area.”
Court documents reveal that Penn suffers from traumatic brain injuries, s**stance abuse issues, and Capgras delusional syndrome—a rare psychiatric condition where individuals believe family members have been replaced by identical impostors. This diagnosis provides clinical context for Penn’s beliefs that his mother is not actually his mother and is part of a “sabotage squad” attempting to steal his money.
Penn’s legal troubles continue to mount. A Hilo family court judge recently extended a protective order against him brought by his 79-year-old mother, Lorraine P. Shin, until November 23. He must vacate their shared residence and faces multiple contempt warrants for failing to appear in court on assault charges.
The former champion, who compiled a 16-14-2 record during his MMA career and received 19,667 votes in the 2022 Republican gubernatorial primary in Hawaii, is currently barred from contact with his two daughters and their mother until 2030. The protective orders prohibit him from coming within 100 yards of their residences, workplaces, or schools.
Court records show he was awarded damages of $376,480 in May after failing to respond to civil complaints and was arrested twice in late May for misdemeanor abuse of a household member. The transformation of a once-celebrated athlete into someone making increasingly erratic public statements about alien replacements shows concerns about Penn’s ability to distinguish reality from delusion.
