A UFC fan became an internet sensation after his girlfriend decided to break some “bad news” while he was still recovering from surgery.
Fresh out of anesthesia and in a vulnerable state, the fan was recorded by his girlfriend as she delivered the news that UFC Bantamweight Champion Sean O’Malley had lost the rematch to Merab Dvalishvili via submission.
“I’m sorry. Sean O’Malley lost,” she told him in the viral video, adding details to sell the story. “He was getting choked down. He tapped.”
The fan, still groggy from medication, immediately became emotional at the news. His childlike reaction showed genuine distress as he repeatedly said “No” and appeared on the verge of tears, unable to process the fabricated defeat of his favorite star.
“I recorded the whole fight for you,” his girlfriend continued, doubling down on the prank while claiming the submission happened in the “third round or fourth.”
The video, shared on social media with the caption “Fresh out of surgery finding out Sean O’Malley just got submitted by Merab is evil 😭,” quickly gained traction among UFC fans and even caught the attention of Dvalishvili himself.
The Georgian showed his class by commenting “I’m sorry” on the post after being tagged repeatedly by amused viewers, acknowledging the fan’s distress.
This prank highlights the deep emotional connection many UFC fans have with their favorite fighters. O’Malley has built a massive following due to his flamboyant personality and striking style in the octagon.
Meanwhile, the real-life Dvalishvili has been working to win over fans with his relentless wrestling-heavy approach. Recently, after a dominant performance, he delivered an inspirational speech that resonated with viewers.
“I came from nothing, I’m so grateful to inspire so many young generations, to show my example,” Dvalishvili said in his post-fight address. “It doesn’t matter what you have, as long as you know where you’re going and you have a goal. And guys, please believe in your dreams and follow it, work for it, and everything is possible, like I did, you can do it too.”
As for the pranked fan, his post-surgery ordeal might have been uncomfortable in the moment, but it’s given him an unexpected claim to fame in the UFC community.
