Nate Diaz turned down Roadhouse: I ain’t losing to no broke back mountain

MMA legend Nate Diaz recently revealed his intense dedication to staying hydrated, disclosing that he keeps a remarkable 15 water bottles by his bed every night.

MMA legend Nate Diaz recently revealed he was originally offered Conor McGregor‘s role in the “Roadhouse” remake but turned it down because he refused to lose a fight on screen.

During an appearance on The HJR Podcast, Diaz disclosed that he was approached to play the main antagonist in the action film that ultimately starred Jake Gyllenhaal and McGregor.

“I was supposed to do Conor McGregor‘s part in Roadhouse, yeah, that was my part,” Diaz explained. “But I was like, I’m not fighting. I’m not even going there and losing a fight.”

When discussing the role further, Diaz recalled asking who would be playing the Patrick Swayze character from the original film. Upon learning it would be Jake Gyllenhaal, Diaz didn’t mince words about his decision to pass on the opportunity.

“I ain’t going to no movie and losing to no broke back mountain,” Diaz said, referencing Gyllenhaal’s role in the 2005 drama “Brokeback Mountain.”

The conversation also touched on Diaz’s potential return to the UFC, with the fighter expressing interest in completing his trilogy with Conor McGregor. Diaz mentioned he plans on returning to the UFC “if they’ll have me” but is currently waiting for the right opponent.

When asked about future career possibilities outside of fighting, Diaz confirmed he’s already established himself in the cannabis industry, crediting marijuana as something that “created an old thing” for him throughout his fighting career by helping him visualize techniques and stay motivated during training.

The Stockton native also reflected on his long-standing relationship with cannabis, saying he first tried it around age 11 or 12 but “didn’t start smoking smoking until I was about 15.”

Currently competing at 170 pounds, Diaz made it clear he has no plans to return to the lightweight division, stating,

“I’m standing at 70. I’ll find 85.”
