The 21-year-old boxer, who competed under the ring name ‘Rafaguita,’ was found wrapped in a blanket and tape in an isolated area just south of the US border. Authorities made the grim discovery after receiving reports about a suspicious package alongside a roadway.
Mercado Cabrera had been reported missing prior to the tragic find, prompting an extensive search effort by local groups and his concerned family. The young athlete was positively identified through his distinctive tattoos, according to investigators.
